fields, which could be quickly translated into
real-world industrial operations. The Park's
Research and Development initiative is also
directed at improving the existing technologies
in the country's core economic sectors to enhance
production efficiencies.
TechnoPark was established under an Emiri
Decree in the year 2002. The first phase of
the project is complete and fully leased out.
It is at present home to 112 companies that
include some of the world’s most prestigious
names such as “Nestle”, “Baker
Hughes”, “Metito”, “Cedar” and
more.
Strategic location and planning
TechnoPark, located to the west of Jafza (Jebel
Ali Free Zone), is being built on an area of
21 million square meters of land.
The second phase of the project was launched
on June 27, 2008 and is progressing as per
schedule. The Phase II development of TechnoPark
is being built across 17.7 million sq meters.
Termed “Technopolis”, the development
is meticulously designed to position TechnoPark
as the hub for cutting edge science, technology
and high-tech industries, with a distinct identity
and a strong sense of place.
The Technopolis comprises of three main clusters
that complement each other: an R&D complex
that will have laboratories and incubator facilities
for emerging sector;, an academic campus that
will be home to universities specializing in
technology related educational streams; and
an Industrial area that will be home to high
tech industries in water, oil & gas and
other strategic sectors, as well as, support
services including logistics and warehousing
facilities, commercial offices, business centers,
banks, hotels, convention halls, retail outlets

Acceleration Centers to help commercialize
and industrialize all new innovations. It will
also have residential zones with spacious walkways,
water bodies, parks and other leisure areas.
The New Master Plan has three mixed residential
(bachelor status) and retail facilities to
support the Techno Park development. These
facilities are situated at three locations
within the Technology Corridor and Industrial
Zones of the site.
When fully developed, Technopolis is projected
to have a resident population of about 60,000
people and a combined workforce of up to 133,000.
TechnoPark’s uses the concept of “One
Stop Shop” as its key offering. Through
this initiative the park offers its clients
all the services right from immigration, health
card issuance, telephone and communication
set-up services to vehicle registration, driving
licence related services etc. under one roof.
Approximately 30% of the TechnoPark development
is made-up of open space including landscaping
for roads and utility rights of way.
There are seven main access points to the
project site. The main roads that will provide
key accesses to TechnoPark are Sheikh Zayed
Road and Emirates Road. The other access points
are provided through the two parallel roads.
The park will be linked to the adjacent water
front development through a tunnel that runs
below the major arterial between the Techno
Park and the Water Front developments. The
TechnoPark’s internal road network will
include two parallel roads which will connect
TechnoPark with Jafza South and water front;
