The Mohammed Bin Rashid Technology Park that’s being constructed will reinforce Dubai’s role as the premiere regional technology and science hub, as disclosed by Sultan Ahmed Bin Slayem, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation. The park is located next to Jebel Ali Free Zone and covers 3 square kilometers.
It’s not only designed to serve as a regional platform for international, local and regional business across the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa; but also presents ideal use for qualified local resources through sustainable capital-based development. Moreover, It’ll boost Dubai’s competitive advantage. Bin Sulayem anticipate the new entity’s growth and success as the Gulf’s demand is expected to attract foreign investors. He said the region uses over 50 percent of global destination capacity, with UAE demand expected to double by 2010.
Several international companies have already signed-up for technology-specific projects in the park, including GE EDG, a GE subsidiary specializing in complex engineering and design; Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a leading US group specializing in technology transfer to manufacturers; and Middle East Development Co., specialist in Intelligent control companies.
